{"id":110,"date":"2018-08-19T23:48:30","date_gmt":"2018-08-19T15:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lsdwa.com\/blog\/?p=110"},"modified":"2018-08-20T23:53:58","modified_gmt":"2018-08-20T15:53:58","slug":"fractalus-0-9-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lsdwa.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/19\/fractalus-0-9-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"Fractalus 0.9 Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>G&#8217;day!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been working on Fractalus in bits and pieces when I&#8217;ve had a chance to since the last build and there are a couple of new things I&#8217;ve been working on for 0.9 that I want to show the progress on:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsdwa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/fractalus-procedural-terrain-1680px.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-86\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lsdwa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/fractalus-procedural-terrain-500px.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>Procedurally Generated Terrain!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The first is procedurally generated terrain which is more reminiscent of the original game&#8217;s terrain. A new terrain is generated at each level start so that no two levels are quite the same. The terrain is generated using the Diamond-Square algorithm which I chose as it was created by Loren Carpenter who also made the terrain for the original Rescue on Fractalus, so I figured it was very likely to be the same algorithm used in the original game.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsdwa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/fractalus-pilot-model-1680px.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-86\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lsdwa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/fractalus-pilot-model-500px.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>Pilot model! Click on the image to zoom in to see it &#8211; to the left of the crosshairs.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The second is the pilot finally has a model! I&#8217;ve been experimenting with making the pilot model in Blender for a while and it&#8217;s about time for it to be included.<\/p>\n<p>The above images are not final and these features are likely to change a bit before the release of 0.9 as I continue to develop them and other features. I hope to have 0.9 ready some time in the next few months.
